Are you looking for somewhere that undertakes superb antique furniture repairs and restoration in Surrey?
If you do then please feel free to contact us at Snelling Associates in Shere, where we have our workshop. Here you can meet us, see what we do and find out more about the high-quality service that we provide. Transparent and professional, we are always keen to meet our clients before we start work so that we know exactly what you want.
For over twenty-five years we have been undertaking antique furniture repairs and restoration in Surrey and we have worked for several well-known people – together with a number of insurance companies. So, we have a long record of success and we can provide you with many references who can vouch for the excellence of our work.
Over the years, we have undertaken a very wide range of repairs and restorations and these have included objets d’art, as well as furniture and related items. Just look at our web site and you will see that we have restored everything from gilt mirror and picture frames to gun boxes, ornate sideboards, dining tables, chests, chests of drawers, side tables and virtually every type of chair imaginable.
Of course, we are well accustomed to dealing with fire, water and impact damage to items (a constant of many insurance claims) – as well as items that have suffered from worm or just pure neglect.
WORK UNDERTAKEN BY SNELLING ASSOCIATES
Renew and repair veneers (together with re-colouring)
French polish and wax surfaces
Undertake cabinet making and reconstruction work
Reform defective and damaged filigree and plasterwork
Reset loose joints (on chairs, tables etc.)
Carve distressed fretwork and details
Re-upholster and re-cane furniture
Restore and strip pine furniture
Make new turnings
Restore antiques damaged by fire, water or impact
We are experts at French polishing, colouring and staining but, very importantly, we can also replace veneers and make turnings and filigree to match that lost or damaged. So, we have the capability to re-make parts that are terminally damaged or lost, thus proving you with the chance to re-vitalise an item that you may have thought was effectively lost for ever!
As professional antique restorers, we are fully aware of the importance of patina. This is critical to any antique and is something that can be destroyed if any restoration is not undertaken with sympathy. Indeed, we frequently have clients binging us items that they have had poorly repaired elsewhere – so that the patina and vital ‘feel’ of the object can be retrieved. This is necessary if the value of the piece concerned is to be preserved or enhanced.
Needless to say, we always provide a quotation for the work you want undertaking along with a timing for completion of the work. So, if you want any antique furniture repairs and restoration in Surrey then either bring your item to us for a quotation (but ring first to make sure we are in the workshop) or give us a call or send us some photographs by e-mail of the work you want doing.
We shall look forward to seeing you!
Peter Snelling
